Chord Transposition Tool

This tool helps you quickly transpose chords from one key to another. To transpose a chord:

  1. Locate the row for the key you are transposing from, the key of the music you are reading.
  2. Locate the row for the key you are transposing to, the key of the transposed music you are writing.
  3. In the row for the reading key, find the note name for the chord as it is written in the music you are reading.
  4. Move up or down the column to find the corresponding note in the writing key. This is the note to write in your transposed song.
  5. Copy the chord suffix (such as m, sus4, or maj7) as is. Chord suffixes stay the same regardless of what key you transpose to.
