Who is this for?
The circle is open to all adults, whether you have experience journeying or are a beginner!
What time, and where does it happen?
We meet at Main Line Pilates & Yoga in Paoli. A short introductory lesson on basic journeying techniques starts at 7:20pm. If you're coming for the lesson, please arrive promptly. Drumming for the main event – the group journey – begins at 7:45pm.
What do we do?
Shamanic journeying involves going into a trance state in order to allow your spirit body to travel into an alternate level of reality. There, you can find healing and ask for advice from powerful spirit beings willing to ally themselves with you.
The advantage of working within a group is the energetic support provided by a roomful of people working toward a similar end, and also the input and insight you can gain from sharing your journey with others (sharing the results of your journey with the group is not required).
What do I need to bring?
Bring your drum, your bandana or eye mask, your spirit guides, and your questions! Also remember to bring a mat or blanket, or something else to lie down on, and a journal or notebook so you can record your journey. When you come into the center, please remove your shoes before entering the classroom. You can leave them just outside the classroom door.
Is there a cost or fee for the circle?
The circle is free, but your donations when you can afford to do so help us with the monthly rental fee for the studio space. If you don't have money with you at the circle, you can donate via PayPal. Use the donation button below, or use PayPal to send money directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Amy Guskin and Paul Nordquist have been teaching shamanic journeying and leading shamanic journeying circles in the Chester County, Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) suburbs since 1997. They have also released several albums of shamanic journeying music. Amy and Paul have studied shamanism here and abroad for many years, with teachers from various cultural backgrounds, and have practiced their shamanic arts in settings as diverse as city streets, chamber tombs in Ireland, and in the center of the circle at Stonehenge under a summer full moon.
Main Line Pilates & Yoga
1740 East Lancaster Ave., Paoli, PA 19301
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THE ENTRANCE: The yoga studio has two doors, but only one of them will be unlocked. Use the door facing Fairway Road and the CVS shopping center, near the entrance to Performance Bicycle. If you are facing Paoli Beverage, go around to the other side of the building!
This is what the correct side of the building looks like (see below). If you're parked in the CVS parking lot, and look east (towards the Rita's, across the small side street called Fairway Rd.), this is what you will see. The door to enter Main Line Pilates & Yoga studio is to the left of Performance Bicycle, down a path and somewhat hidden by a large ornamental blue cedar tree. The red arrow points to the door; the red block indicates the path; and the dotted red line outlines the actual entry door you should use. That is the only door that will be open on evenings when we have the circle.
Directions (coming from all points)
Take Route 30 (Lancaster Ave.) into Paoli, a 1/4 mile east of the intersection of Route 252 and Route 30. Main Line Pilates & Yoga is just about the midpoint between the Daylesford and Paoli SEPTA stations, about a half-mile from either. The building is two stories, sand-colored, and is fronted with white columns.
You may either park on Fairway Road, or in the CVS shopping center's parking lot, however, we ask that you do not park directly in front of Paoli Beverage or Performance Bicycle.
